Oregon looked as if might capture the doubles point as the team of Geoff Embry and Romeo Mortera won 8-6 on court three, and the Ducks' tandom of Francisco Gallardo and Stephen Wiechert had an early edge on the Wildcats' Claudio Christen and Andres Carrasco on court two.
After the Ducks dropped the No. 1 doubles match with Arizona's Bruno Alcala and Ravid Hazi victorious over Oregon's Alex Cornelissen and Marcos Verdasco, 8-2, Christen and Carrasco staged a comeback to edge Gallardo and Wiechert, 9-8 (5), taking the doubles point for Arizona.
In singles action, junior Mikael Myrhed picked up
Christen defeated Verdasco in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot, while Carrasco edged Gallardo, 6-4, 7-5 on court two.
Alcala and Cornelissen produced one of the most tested matches of the day, with Alcala pulling out a 7-6, 7-6 (4) win on court three.
In the No. 4 spot,
Hazi defeated Mortera 6-2, 7-6 (8) in the fifth spot.
