
Trio Lead Day 2 Charge at Pac-10s

STANFORD, Calif. ? Senior Cathryn Bristow, sophomore Kendra Little and freshman Ashley Edwards all shot scores of 73 or better Saturday to boost the No. 36 University of Oregon women's golf team in day two of the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships Sponsored by Duramed.
The returning All-Pac-10 Second Team picks Bristow (12th-t, 75-72-147) and Little (19th-t, 76-73-149) shot scores of 72 and 73, respectively, on the par 71 Stanford Golf Course, while Edwards (26th, 79-72-151) also added a 73 Saturday. To better understand the impact of their performances Saturday, the trio entered the second round in ties for 21st, 27th and 37th overall, respectively.
UO's other entries Saturday included sophomores Monika Graf (41st?t, 82-78-160) and Erica Omlid (44th-t, 82-81-163).
The Huapai, New Zealand native Bristow caught fire on the back nine with birdies on the 11th, 15th and 16th holes. She also carded par scores on 11 holes in Saturday's second round, and had bogeys on the remaining four holes.
Little worked her magic on the front nine with birdies on the par-5 first and seventh holes then added another on the par-5 12th. She added par scores on 11 other holes, bogeyed three times, and double-bogeyed once.
Edwards claimed four birdies herself (on the first, ninth, 12th and 15th holes), parred nine times, and had bogeys on five holes.
Bristow's team low score ? the second straight of the tourney and third in her last six rounds - was her eighth in 23 rounds for the Ducks this season and 42nd overall in 110 collegiate career rounds. Saturday also marked her 15th score of 75 or better in the 2008-09 campaign.
Bristow has played in the event three other times (38th in '08, 27th in '07, 40th in '06), while Little placed 20th in last year's UCLA-hosted event. UO's other three entries ? sophomores Monika Graf and Erica Omlid and freshman Ashley Edwards ? continued in their event debuts.
Overall in the team standings, No. 1 Arizona State utilized an ?09 event best of 281 to move into the lead by five strokes, ahead of No. 2 UCLA (second, 291-288-579) and No. 4 USC (third, 292-291-583).
No. 21 Arizona held onto fourth-place (298-296-594), and stood ahead of No. 24 Stanford (fifth, 302-294-596), No. 26 California (sixth-tie, 298-305-603) and No. 71 Washington State (sixth-tie, 306-297-603), No. 40 Washington (eighth, 305-301-606), No. 36 Oregon (ninth, 312-295-607) and No. 64 Oregon State (309-314-623).
On the individual front, Arizona State's Azahara Munoz (73-68-141) moved into a tie for the lead with teammates Jennifer Osburn (72-69-141) and Carlota Ciganda (70-71-141) and USC's Jennifer Song (first-tie, 70-71-14) ? with the latter two leading the field after Friday's first round.
