
Ducks Clinch Tourney Title

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon claimed the 2010 Oregon Invitational title with a commanding 110-60 victory over Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon at McArthur Court.
Three tournament teams – Oregon, Idaho and CSU Bakersfield – finished with a record of 2-1 at the Invite, but point differential was the tie breaker.
The Ducks (5-1) defeated Idaho by 26 points on Friday, before falling to CSU Bakersfield, 82-78, on Saturday afternoon. With Sunday's 50-point victory over the Hornets (1-6), UO posted a +72 scoring margin for the tournament to claim the title.
CSU Bakersfield (6-1) suffered the first loss of its season in the early game on Sunday, falling 69-59 to Idaho. The Roadrunners finished the tournament with a +3 scoring margin, while the Vandals (5-1), who took second place, finished the tournament with a +4 scoring margin.
Junior forward Amanda Johnson was named the Oregon Invitational Most Valuable Player after averaging 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.0 steals per game while shooting .464 from the floor and knocking down five 3-pointers in three tourney games. In Sunday's win over the Hornets, Johnson scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds and fell one steal short of her career high with seven swipes.
Junior point guard Nia Jackson was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 17.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game. On Sunday, the Seattle native scored 18 points and added seven assists.
Senior guard Kristi Fallin led the Ducks in scoring for the first time in her career. The Roseburg, Ore., native scored a game and career-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor and a lethal 6-of-8 from 3-point range.
Head coach Paul Westhead used all 14 of his available players with each player scoring. Junior guard Ashley Buis added 13 points and knocked down three 3-pointers, while freshman Deanna Weaver was just one rebound short of a double-double with 12 points, nine boards and a career-high six steals. Freshman Danielle Love also added a game and career-high 12 rebounds.
The Ducks shot 40.7 percent from the field and attempted a program record 113 field goals. Oregon also held a 75-61 rebounding advantage over Sacramento State, with UO's total of 75 setting a new program single-game record.
The Ducks and Hornets also combined for 65 three-point field goal attempts, setting a new UO record for 3-point field goal attempts by both teams.
Sacramento State committed 35 turnovers, and UO's 24 steals was anew season high. The Ducks' 26 assists and eight blocked shots were also new season bests for Oregon.
Oregon outscored Sacramento State, 46-26, in the paint and scored 36 points off the Hornets' turnovers. UO also got 55 points from its bench.
Sacramento State was led by Kylie Kuhns' 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kuhns, a Salem, Ore., native, averaged 13.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game through the tournament and was named to the all-tourney team.
Jasmine Cannady scored 10 points and added six rebounds for Sacramento State, and Sadie Clements came off the bench to score 11 points and grab six rebounds, while Tika Koshiyama-Diaz had a game-high eight assists.
In the first game of the day, Idaho handed Cal State Bakersfield its first loss of the season with a 69-59 victory.

The Ducks will return to action next week traveling to Boise State for a 6:00 p.m. (PT) match up at Taco Bell Arena on Friday night.
UO leads the all-time series against the Broncos 9-4, defeating Boise State, 88-61, on Dec. 4, 2009 at Mac Court. The Ducks last traveled to Boise on Dec. 5, 1998, defeating the Broncos, 70-50.
Oregon returns to Mac Court on Tuesday, Dec. 14 to host UC Riverside at Mac Court with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

It will be $2 day at Mac Court on Dec. 14, and fans can visit their local BI-Mart and pick up a $2 voucher good for $2 general admission.
Notes: Oregon scored 62 points in the first half – the most the Ducks have scored in one half this year…this was Oregon's first tournament win since claiming the Long Island Turkey Classic title during the 2004-05 season…Oregon's 110 points matched its highest scoring total of the season, and its 50-point margin of victory was the Ducks' largest since a 102-36 victory over Prairie View A&M on Dec. 10, 2005…UO's 113 field goal attempts set a new program record – the previous was 102 vs. Hawai'i on Jan. 16, 1979…Oregon's 75 rebounds vs. Sacramento State set a new program record – the previous was 72 at Portland State on Jan. 25, 1982…the 65 combined 3-point field goal attempts between the two teams also set a new Oregon single-game record…Kristi Fallin's 26 points, nine made field goals, six made 3-pointers and two steals were all career highs…UO held Sacramento State to a .273 field goal percentage – the lowest for an Oregon opponent this season…the Ducks'50-point margin of victory, 46 made field goals, 12 made 3-pointers, 31 three-point attempts, .387 three-point field goal percentage, 26 assists, 24 steals and eight blocked shots were all season highs.
