Ducks Finish Fall Play

TEMPE, Ariz. – Patricia Skowronski and Pavlina Smatova concluded their fall seasons at the Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday.
The duo suffered only their third loss of the fall season, dropping to 7-3 after a tightly contested 9-7 loss to Ohio State's Paloma Escobedo and Cami Hubbs.
Both players got in a singles match on the final day of the tournament as well. Smatova dispatched San Diego's Juliette Coupez (6-4; 7-5) while Skowronski fell to California's Annie Goransson (6-0; 6-0).
“We played well in doubles today,” head coach Paul Reber said. “Unfortunately, we didn't capitalize on some opportunities, which was disappointing. I give Pavlina a lot of credit in her singles match. She helped us set the tone for the dual match we'll play in April.”

McDevitt and Stueckemann Compete on Final Day in New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Ducks also wrapped up play in the New Mexico Invitational on Sunday.
Molly McDevitt and Rabea Stueckemann were both in action in singles play. Stueckemann defeated New Mexico's Michaela Oldani (6-3, 6-1) while McDevitt fell 6-4, 6-0 to UTEP's Martina Trierweiler.
In doubles play, Stueckemann and Trudie du Toit teamed up in a tight doubles match against UTEP's Trierweiler and Gabi Vazquez. The match went back and forth, but the Duck duo fell, 9-8.
The Ducks open up play again with the Freeman Memorial and John and Phil's Toyota Championship on Jan. 14. Their first dual match is on Jan. 21 against Portland State.
