Ducks Tame Bearcats for Second Straight Victory
12/12/10 | Men's Basketball
EUGENE – E.J. Singler's career-night and a hot-shooting performance by the offense sparked the Oregon men's basketball team to a 100-67 win over Willamette University at McArthur Court on Saturday night.
Singler led Oregon (6-3) with 18 points and pulled in a career-high 17 rebounds while Oregon shot 51.3 percent from the floor.
The Bearcats scored the first three points of the evening and held the Ducks scoreless for the first 2:27 of play. UO's bench provided an early lift as Teondre Williams, Tyrone Nared and Johnathan Loyd tallied the Ducks' first seven points from off the pine.
Oregon grabbed its first lead of the night six and a half minutes in when Jay-R Strowbridge drained a three-pointer to make it 10-9. After Willamette regained the lead with a triple of its own, Strowbridge hit another trey to put the Ducks up 14-12.
A 26-4 UO run broke open a one-point game and gave the Ducks a 51-28 lead with 1:10 remaining in the opening stanza. Singler was the catalyst of the outburst, scoring all of his 15 first-half points in that surge to help Oregon take a 51-31 lead into the locker room at halftime. Singler also grabbed 12 rebounds in the first half for his second career double-double and his second this season.
The Ducks extended their lead to 30 points midway through the final frame and led by as many as 35 in the game, the largest lead they have held at any point this season.

Garrett Sim scored 15 points, Joevan Catron poured in 13, Williams scored 13 off the bench while Strowbridge and Malcolm Armstead each tallied 10 to put every Oregon starter in double digit points.
