Oregon - Willamette Postgame Quotes
12/12/10 | Men's Basketball
Oregon 100 – Willamette 67
December 11, 2010
Eugene, Ore.
Head coach Dana Altman:
On the slow start:
“We didn't start well again, took some quick shots that were flat footed. I guess the word would be impatient. We took the open looks and tried to hit everything.”
On the Pac 10 opener:
“We still have a lot of work to do… we gave up too many easy baskets and we have three tough games before we open with Arizona.”
On the press:
“39 points of the press is a big number because we are an undersized team it needs to be part of our game.”
Teondre Williams, No. 22
On playing after recent concussion:
“It felt good. I felt a little out of shape but it felt good to play.”
On the game:
“We started off slow defending and rebounding but we picked it up. It was a good game for the team.”
On the number of turnovers:
“Coach Altman didn't want so many turnovers. If we play like this against Arizona, we aren't going to win.”
“Many of the turnovers were just us being lazy and not paying attention. One turnover I just passed it to another guy, I just wasn't paying attention.”
E.J. Singler, No. 25
On the game:
“I felt good about our overall effort. The first half started off rough but we stayed together and played as a team.”
On the rough start:
“We are still trying to figure out the timing of our offensive plays as a team. We all have to be in motion at the same time. It will just take time to get us all in the same groove and on the same page but I think we will get there very soon.”
On the alumni at the game:
“Coach told us about the alumni that were at the game. Oregon has great alumni and pride in basketball, and we all wanted to come out and play hard for them.”
On number of steals:
“Steals are a big part of our offensive game plan. It is key to finish those plays, take those turnovers, and have some productivity from them.”
On playing Willamette so late in the season:
“They played really hard. I think we can learn a lot from these kinds of games. They came out and played really hard, and it was a fun game.”
