Top-10 Trio Lead No. 38 Ducks in Peg Barnard Invite Day 1

STANFORD, Calif. – In its first action of the spring season, the No. 38-ranked University of Oregon women's golf team stood in fourth place in the opening round of the Peg Barnard Invitational.
Oregon shot a 21-over 305 on the par-71, 6,092-yard Stanford Golf Course, and trailed No. 10 California (first, 296), No. 24 Stanford (second-tie, 304) and No. 35 Washington (second-tie, 304).
Other teams in the 11-team field included No. 22 UC Davis (fifth, 310), No. 32 Texas (sixth, 312), Hawai'i (seventh, 313), No. 36 San Jose State (eighth, 315), Long Beach State (ninth, 318), Santa Clara (10th-tie, 324) and Fresno State (10th-t, 324).
Individually, a trio of Ducks stood top 10 – junior Kendra Little (sixth-tie, 75), freshman Cheyenne Hickle (sixth-tie, 75) and sophomore Ashley Edwards (10th-tie, 76). Senior Felicia Eastick followed in a tie for 29th place (79), and the Duck contingent was rounded out by senior Kate Hildahl (83).
For Little and Hickle it was the ninth and second times, respectively, that they have led UO in its 13 rounds this season, and also the 36th time for Little in her 79 career rounds.
Overall in the individual standings, California's Pia Halbig held a one-stroke lead with her par 71 score, and was followed by Anya Alvarez of Washington (second, 72), Corie Hou of Hawai'i (third-tie, 73) and Sally Watson of Stanford (third-tie, 73).
Sunday's second and final round is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and complete results from each round will be posted is each day at the www.GoStanford.com website.
