Hildahl Finishes 14th in Wildcat Invite Final Round

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Oregon senior Kate Hildahl staked her second top-15 effort of the season to lead the No. 33-ranked women's golf team to a 13th-place finish Tuesday in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational's final round.
Oregon combined on a 26-over, second-round score of 310 to finish with a two-round overall score of 619 on the par 71, 6,166-yard Arizona National Golf Club course. For comparison's sake, the Ducks shot a 309 in Monday's stormy opening round and stood tied for 12th place.
Overall in the team standings, No. 1 Arizona State (290-286-576) extended its lead by nine strokes to pace the all-star field. No. 16 Arizona followed 12 strokes back in second place (294-294-588), ahead of No. 21 Stanford (third, 293-302-595), No. 13 California (fourth, 302-294-596) and No. 6 Duke (fifth, 296-303-599).
Other teams that finished ahead of UO included No. 28 New Mexico (sixth, 301-300-601), No. 9 Pepperdine (seventh, 295-307-602), No. 2 Auburn (eighth, 308-297-605), No. 14 Denver (ninth, 304-303-607), No. 19 Oklahoma State (304-304-608), No. 7 Tennessee (11th, 307-309-616) and No. 5 USC (12th, 309-310-619).
No. 35 Washington trailed Oregon by three strokes (14th, 315-307-622), and No. 43 UNLV (15th, 314-312-626) and No. 43 Tulane (16th, 312-315-627) rounded out the field.
Individually, Hildahl improved eight places Tuesday to finish 14th overall (75-73-148), and carded UO's low round for the third time this season and 12th time in her career.
The Tualatin, Ore., native carded three birdies Tuesday on the par-3 sixth and 12th holes and par-4 14th holes. She added par scores on 10 holes (#1-3, #7-9, #15-18), and four bogeys (#4-5, #10-11, #13).
She also led UO in the final standings in a tournament for the first time this season and third time in her career after pulling the feat twice in 2007-08 at the Pacific-10 Championships (16th) and Lady Gator Invitational (27th). Tuesday also marked her second top-15 effort of '09-10 after she tied for 14th place in the Giustina Memorial Classic last September in Corvallis.
UO's other scorers Tuesday included junior Kendra Little (50th-t, 75-81-156), sophomore Ashley Edwards (53rd-t, 78-79-157) and freshman Cheyenne Hickle (72nd-t, 85-77-162). UO's other team entry was senior Felicia Eastick (72nd-t, 81-81-162), while individual entry and sophomore Erica Omlid tied for 84th overall (81-85-166).
In the individual standings, Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State shot a tourney low, 5-under 66 Tuesday to win (70-66-136) by five strokes. Juliana Murcia of Arizona State (74-67) and Alison Whitaker of Duke (69-72) tied for second place with scores of 141.
