EUGENE - The University of Oregon softball team (17-5) posted its second five-inning win of the weekend, thanks to a 12-0 win Sunday morning over North Dakota (3-13).
The Ducks knocked in four runs in the first and five in the second, then added three more in the fourth for its second-highest run output of the season (behind a 14-5 win over San Diego in mid-February).
Senior Carlyn Re, sophomore Kelsey Chambers and freshmen Kaylan Howard and Samantha Pappas all homered for the Ducks, and senior Neena Bryant added a double for the offense that racked up 13 hits.
Re went 3-for-3 at the plate and tied a career high for hits in a game. Three others banged out multiple hits - senior Shelley Deadmond (2-for-2, 1 RBI), Pappas (2-for-2, 2 runs, 1 RBI) and Howard (2-for-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI).
Junior Brittany Rumfelt pitched the opening 3.2 innings, struck out eight (only two off her career high), walked none and allowed three hits. Sophomore Mikayla Endicott pitched the final 1.1 innings, struck out three, walked one and gave up no hits.
Looking ahead, the Ducks will face Boise State (4-13) immediately after Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
