Hickle and Little Tied For 14th in Baylor Spring Invite Day 1

WACO, Texas – The No. 33-ranked University of Oregon women's golf team capped first-day action in the Baylor Spring Invitational tied for fifth place Monday after the opening two rounds at the Twin Rivers Golf Club.
On the par 72, 6,367-yard course, UO shot scores of 310 and 314 and was tied with No. 94 Kansas State (310-314-624).
Host and No. 53 Baylor led the field (303-31-604) by six strokes, and was followed by No. 74 Oklahoma (297-313-610), No. 69 Arkansas Little Rock (third, 301-314-615) and No. 47 Texas Tech (fourth, 308-308-616).
Other teams in the field included Texas San Antonio (seventh-tie, 316-313-629), North Texas (seventh-tie, 318-311-629), No. 58 Oral Roberts (ninth, 327-309-636), No. 90 Texas State (10th, 323-317-640), Oklahoma City (11th, 322-326-648), Wichita State (12th, 321-329-650), Boise State (13th, 330-321-651), SMU (14th, 328-325-653), McLennan CC (15th, 325-332-657) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (16th, 335-323-658).
Individually, junior Kendra Little and freshman Cheyenne Hickle were tied for 14th place overall with identical scores the first two rounds (78-77-155). Close behind, senior Kate Hildahl (21st, 76-80-156) and junior Erica Omlid (27th-t, 78-80-158) also ranked top 30.
In her 22nd collegiate round, Hickle paced UO for the fifth time (and fourth occasion the last eight rounds). In the second round, Little held similar top Duck honors for the 12th time in 2009-10 and 39th time in her career. Hildahl's low team score the first round was her fifth of the season and 14th career-wise.
Sophomore Ashley Edwards rounded out the Duck contingent (50th-t, 81-82-163), and freshman Avery Sills made her Duck debut as an individual entry, and was tied for 34th overall (82-77-159).
Hildahl logged the most birdies on the day for the Ducks with her three the first round (par-5 #4, par-4 #6 and 12) and one the second round (par-5 #8). Edwards added three the first round (par-4 #9, 11 and par-5 #16), Little had a pair of birdies on the par-4 11th and sixth holes, Omlid carded two on the par-4 #11 and #1 holes, and Sills followed suit with one on the par-4 #9.
On the individual leaderboard, Baylor's Jaclyn Jansen topped the field by one stroke (71-74-145), and was followed by Mallory Fraiche of Arkansas-Little Rock (second, 69-77-146), Ellen Mueller of Oklahoma (third, 73-76-149) and Alex Gibson of Texas Tech (fourth, 75-75-150).
