
Omlid tied for Second Place in Dick McGuire Invite Opener

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Continuing its busy opening week, the University of Oregon women's golf team stood in second place after the first two rounds of the Dick McGuire / Branch Law Firm Invitational held Friday on the par-73 UNM Championship Course.
UO (295-296-591) trailed No. 21 Ohio State (first, 292-295-587) and was tied with No. 28 San Diego State (second, 294-297-591) in the 17-team field, and other teams in the top five overall included No. 29 Denver (fourth, 303-291-594) and Colorado (fifth, 302-294-596).
Thanks to two of her best scores ever, senior Erica Omlid (second-tie, 70-72-142) stood at four-under and led UO in a pair of same-day rounds for the first time ever and sixth and seventh occasions in her career. The Springfield, Ore., native topped her previous career best (1-under 71) in the first round with her three-under 70, then came back with a one-under 72 in the day's second round.
Glancing at her scorecard, she carded five birdies, 11 par scores and two bogeys the first round, and three birdies, 14 pars and one double-bogey in the second round.
Junior Ashley Edwards (ninth, 72-74-146) and sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (13th-t, 76-73-149) also stood top 15 overall, and UO's contingent was rounded out by senior Kendra Little (45th-tie, 77-77-154) and freshman Raphaela Dyer (64th-tie, 78-81-159).
Other Duck birdie counts for the day follow: Edwards (7), Hickle (6), Little (5) and Dyer (4).
Overall on the individual leaderboard, UNLV's Therese Koelbaek led the field by two strokes (70-70-140), while Omlid was tied for second place with San Diego State's Malin Enarsson (71-71-142) and Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna (69-73-142).
