Ducks Roll Past Weber State, 88-73
11/25/11 | Women's Basketball
Amanda Johnson notched her fifth consecutive double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Nia Jackson contributed 16 points, five assists and a game-high five steals. Jasmin Holliday poured in 13 points and eight rebounds, while Danielle Love set a new career high with 13 points, knocking down three treys. Junior Laura Stanulis added 10 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
Weber State (0-4) drew first blood to open the second half, but Oregon (4-0) went on a 18-4 run to push their 14-point halftime lead out to 26 with only six minutes elapsed into play. But the Wildcats connected on three straight treys and knocked down a pair of free throws to put together a quiet, 11-2 run, their best of the contest.. UO did not let up at this point as despite the run, the Ducks put together an 11-0 run to go ahead by 28 points, which was the largest lead of the game. In that run, Jackson tallied two of Oregon's six three-point plays and Love and Holliday added the rest
Twice the Wildcats cut down the Duck lead to 11, but that was as close as they would get in the game, allowing Oregon to get off to a 4-0 start for the third consecutive season. Of interest is the fact that this is UO's first double digit win of the season.
The first half of action saw UO get off to a slow start as Weber State tallied the first two buckets, but the Ducks did not get on the board until Holliday knocked down two free throws at the 16:41 mark. From that point on Oregon rattled off 10 straight points to go ahead 14-4.
The Wildcats had the lead down to a single point on two occasions, but the power of Oregon's four three-point plays kept the lead out of reach as UO never trailed in the contest.
Caela Moore led Weber State with a game-high 21 points and Jordan Pfau added 13 points. Amanda Hughes also had a game-high 13 rebounds. The Wildcats knocked down 11 three-pointers.
Oregon sophomore guard Ariel Thomas played her first game of the season, after missing the first three with Achilles trouble.
