Head Coach Dana Altman
Opening statement...
"We seemed to step slow tonight and the bounce wasn't good. The turnovers didn't help us move, but we cleaned those turnovers up in the second half. It wasn't the same bounce we had against Nebraska. We still have a tremendous amount of work we need to do."
On Johnathan Loyd's big shooting night...
"He had a good effort on a night that we really needed him to. He hit a lot of big shots for us. His turnovers slowed us down in the first half, but he cleaned that up in the second half."
On Bruce Barron...
"He has left the team; I won't say anything more on it. We're going to move on with the 13 guys we have here. He was quite a ways behind the rest of the team because he missed so many practices due to injuries."
On where the team goes from here without Bruce...
"Guys will have bigger opportunities with less players to rotate. They need to take advantage of those opportunities given to them. We're going to move on from this and find a way to compete with the guys we have. We want guys that want to play here."
On Olu Ashaolu's performance...
"He had a few good boards and steals tonight; he finished inside like we needed him to. He had no turnovers, which have plagued him in the past. He gave us good minutes and good energy tonight."
On the starting rotation...
"We don't have anything or anyone etched in stone. Tony (Woods) is playing great and will be a big part of our team."
Oregon Player Quotes
Forward E.J. Singler
On UTEP's style...
"They were tough team to play against...they were long and athletic. They played harder and wanted it more tonight, luckily we came out on top."
Guard Johnathan Loyd
On playing time...
"I love basketball and more minutes mean more fun.During warm-ups, my shots were feeling and looking good. I told Nick Lucenti it was going to be a good day. I had five turnovers, that is not going to happen again. The turnovers...not the shots."
