Cougars Send Ducks to Third-Straight Loss

continued to cement their place in school history, but it wasn't enough as BYU defeated the No. 63 Oregon women's tennis team , 4-1, on Friday.
The Ducks' (7-9) top doubles team picked up their 20th victory of the season, moving them into sole possession of fourth on the school's single season list, by upsetting BYU's 75th-ranked pairing of Megan Price and Callie Craig, 8-5. It was their second win against a ranked duo this season.
Despite the win, BYU managed to take the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3. The No. 2 match was swung the point as the Cougars' Elizabeth Ezhova and Desiree Tran outlasted
Trudie du Toit
and Julia Metzger
in a tiebreaker, 9-8.
Smatova accounted for the Ducks' lone point with her 17th win of the year. The No. 79 singles player in the nation downed Megan Price (6-4, 6-0) in straight sets.
The Cougars clinched the match on the strength of a straight-set win at No. 4 singles and three-set victories at No. 2 and 3. Callie Craig held off Skowronski (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) at the second spot and Elle Carney rallied past Metzger (6-7, 6-3, 6-2) at No. 3.
The No. 5 and 6 matches were abandoned with the dual clinched for BYU.
Oregon returns to action on April 1 when it hosts USC.
