Oregon Comes Up Short In Civil War

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Jared Cunningham scored 27 points, including 24 in the second half, to lead Oregon State to a 76-71 victory against Oregon on Sunday.

Ahmad Starks added 15 points, Devon Collier 13 and Joe Burton 10 for the Beavers (14-7, 4-5 Pac-12), who won for just the second time in their last 19 trips to Eugene.

Devoe Joseph scored 26 points and E.J. Singler added 16 for Oregon (15-6, 6-3), which had a season-high 23 turnovers.

Trailing 73-70 in the final minute, the Ducks had a chance for a tie but Singler missed a 3-pointer and Oregon turned the ball over after getting the rebound.

Oregon State trailed 28-23 at halftime and 45-39 with 13:11 left to play. But Cunningham, who was 1 for 7 in the first half, hit 5 of 7 shots after the break and was 6 for 8 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes.

POSTGAME NOTES

- The loss drops the Ducks into a tie for fourth in the Pac-12 conference standings.

- The Oregon loss is just their third at home this season. They had been 12-2 prior to the Civil War. The loss is also Oregon's first defeat at home decided by fewer than 10 points. The Ducks had been a perfect 11-0 in those close games.

- The Ducks are now 4-5 when their opponents scores more than 70 points.

- The Ducks loss after leading at halftime is only their second such loss all season. They had been 12-1.

- The Ducks' loss is their first when having more blocks than their opponent. They had been 9-0.

- The Ducks set a new season-high for blocks with 10. The previous high was eight against UTEP on Nov. 29. The last time the Ducks record 10+ blocks was Nov. 12, 2010 against North Dakota State.

- OSU out-scored Oregon, 22-4, over a six-minute stretch in the middle of the second half (UO led 45-39 with 12:14 in the half, OSU led 61-49 with 6:53).

- Carlos Emory registered his first career double-double (11 pts and 10 rebs). He became just the second UO player to have a double-double this year (Olu Ashaolu at Washington State, 23 points and 10 rebounds).

- Emory's rebound total marked a career-high and it was the second time this season Emory led the team in rebounding.

- Devoe Joseph scored 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. His 16 shot attempts marked a new career high.

- Olu Ashaolu set a new career high for blocks in a game with three. His previous career high had been two.

- The Oregon starting lineup of Garrett Sim, Devoe Joseph, E.J. Singler, Jeremy Jacob, and Tony Woods dropped just their second game as a unit. They are 6-2.
