“I
normally don't look at the video screen, but this time I did because I
wanted to see if anyone was behind me. I was assuming they would push,
so I was aware. My coach said don't be afraid to take it and I didn't
mean to go that fast but it worked out well.”
On future races…
“We're
not focusing on the next meet. We are just thinking about this one, and
we wanted to place at least top two. It's my first outdoor race so I
wanted to start off great. I was racing to win and get points for the
team. I definitely most excited about the 1500 race though.”

“The
plan was to stay relaxed. I positioned myself up. The wind was blowing
in my face in the back end so I had to kick harder and kick stronger.”

if it wasn't the most normal race strategy, winning always balances out
mistakes. I also think it's more about racing and not about time.”

“I got 5'9 and a quarter. I was a little iffy but I had some good jumps.”

“It's a great day. The sun is out and the stands are full. I came to win. I wanted to beat Texas A M. I did not want to lose.”

“It was a good opener. Coach said just go run, get a good effort in and it was fun.”

“I
thought this time I'm taking it. It's exciting to have a teammate up
there with you. But no matter whether it's you teammate or not, you want
to win.

"I don't feel sharp yet, but I'm fit and will only improve.”

My coach wanted me to wait, but I kicked it out. I saw a split and just
went for it. It worked out well. It was an instinct.”

“I
stayed clean and aggressive on the hurdles, around the 5th or 6th
hurdle I hit it pretty hard and it definitely threw me off.”
“The
wind, head or tail, doesn't really help all that much. It never really
makes a difference. It wasn't an impact on why I hit that hurdle.”
