Ducks Host Oregon Team Invitational at Hayward Field

Field events start Friday at 3:10 p.m. (B1G+) followed by running events at 5:20 p.m.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team will host its home opener this week with the Oregon Team Invitational at Hayward Field. The two-day meet begins Friday with field events at 3:10 p.m. and running events starting at 5:20 p.m. The opening day of the Team Invitational will stream on B1G+.

Day one is free and open to the public with gates opening at 2 p.m.

Silan Ayyildiz is set to make her outdoor season debut with a run over 800 meters, and will be joined in the race by teammate Juliet Cherubet and Landen LeBlond. Ayyildiz and Cherubet ran legs on the Ducks' NCAA-winning distance medley relay in March.

In the lone invitational track event Friday, Diana Cherotich will compete in the 5,000 meters. She is the school-record holder in the 10,000 and ranks fourth in program history in the 5K. The Ducks' first track event of the day will be the women's 1500 meters at 5:33 p.m.

Among field entries, Kobe Lawrence and Ben Smith will compete in the discus. Smith is currently fifth in the Big Ten in the discus with this personal-best measure of 58.30m/191-3 from the PNW Invite (March 20). The group is also entered in the women's shot put and javelin. Freshmen Alicia Khunou (16.37m/53-8.5) and Greyson Glivinski (50.67m/166-3) lead the Ducks in those events, respectively.

The Oregon Team Invitational continues Saturday with the men's hammer at 3:45 p.m. with the men's javelin following an hour later. The Big Ten Network broadcast begins at 5:30 p.m. to coincide with the start of running events.

Day two's running events will exclusively feature Oregon, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Utah, Weber State and Wichita State.

Ticket packages for the Ducks' outdoor home schedule are currently on sale. The team is also set to host the Oregon Twilight (May 8), along with the NCAA Championships in June.
