STANFORD, Calif. – Oregon remains in 14th place, but the Ducks shaved six strokes off their score yesterday for a 290 in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon at the Stanford Golf Course. Caroline Inglis led the way for UO with a 1-under 70.
How It Happened: Inglis' 15 pars were tied for the most pars on the day for anyone in the field. The junior sprinkled in birdies on No. 8 and 15 and took just one bogey on No. 14 on her way to earning the team-low score of the day.
Cathleen Santoso bounced back from a day where she was unable to compete due to illness and fired an even-par 71. Santoso enjoyed a well-balanced round that featured 14 pars, two bogeys and two birdies.
Kelsey Ulep improved on her first-round performance and carded a 2-over 73. The freshman started out rocky bogeying her first two holes of the day, but she rallied to birdie the following two holes on her way to an even-par 36 on the back. She fired a 2-over 37 on the front.
Cali Hipp recorded a 5-over 76 for the second-straight day. The senior notched 13 pars and five bogeys over the course of her round.
Cassy Isagawa finished with an 11-over 82.
UCLA finished the day with a 281 and retains first place. Bronte Law of UCLA also retained first place in the individual portion of the tournament with a second round 71. She is 6-under (136) through two rounds.
Capitalizing On Par-5's: The Ducks were 3-under on the par-5's today – the fifth-best mark in the 17-team field. On the tournament as a whole, Oregon is 2-under on par-5's which also fifth best in the field.
Isagawa is 5-under on par 5's for the tournament, good for a first-place tie amongst the field.
Season-Low Score: Oregon's 290 is their lowest score of the year. Only six teams in the field had a better second round score than the Ducks – Washington (278), USC (279), Stanford (280), UCLA (281), Northwestern (288) and Kentucky (289).
Inglis In The Hunt: With her 1-under 70 today, Inglis currently finds herself in a tie for 27th place (73-70). The junior is in striking distance of recording a top-15 finish. If she were to move up, it would be her second top-15 finish of the year.
Tomorrow's Action: Santoso will tee off No. 10 at 8:15 a.m. to lead off the Ducks in their third and final round. Oregon will be playing with Oregon State and UC Davis tomorrow.
