12/04/14 | Men's Basketball
Dana Altman - Head Coach
On the team's performance...
" We did some good things when the ball movement was good. But we went into the game with some things we needed to work on, and I'm not sure we got those things accomplished."
"I think we're making progress. We're taking way too many possessions off. We've got to sharpen some things up, but with Dwayne back, we've got an eight-man rotation that we can play. We've got to stay healthy, but we've got those eight guys. We've got plenty of depth. Our guys just need to concentrate on playing a lot harder with the minutes they're getting."
On preparing for Ole Miss...
"We've got to understand that we've got some ball games coming up starting on Sunday. We've got to play a lot better. Our execution offensively has to be a lot better, defensively we have to tie some things up. I was hoping to get some of that accomplished tonight and I don't feel like we did. Mississippi on Sunday is going to be a heck of a challenge for us.They're bigger, stronger, more experienced; and we're going to have to play a heck of a game. We're going to have our hands full, and I'm not sure we're preparing for the future."
On the return of Dwayne Benjamin...
"He practiced yesterday and said he was ready to go. I thought he was a little rusty with a few of his turnovers, but I thought he did some good things."
Ahmaad Rorie - Guard
On shot selection…
“We weren't really playing as a team at first. We were just forcing up threes when we really should have been getting to the rack and playing inside out, so if we were doing that we would have been a lot more successful.”
On the team's confidence level…
“Our confidence is good. I just feel like we have to keep coming to practice and getting better. Some days in practice we don't go hard enough so I feel like whenever we have a good practice we come out and play.”
On playing as a team…
“We just have to play as a team from the start. It takes us a while sometimes and we can't let that happen against good teams.”
Casey Benson - Guard
On the team…
“We have to continue to make steps everyday in practice, continue to improve, continue to outowork our opponents and things will fall into place.”
On future games…
“We have to come out right from the get go. We have to be the aggressor and continue to outwork our opponents.”
