PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Nicole Long dropped her match, 6-4, 6-0 this afternoon at the Riviera Tennis Club in the ITA All-American Championships. Long was the only Oregon player to qualify for the tournament.
Long's competitor was Daneika Borthwick of Florida State. Borthwick earned All-ACC Third Team honors last year for the Seminoles and compiled a 15-10 singles record.
"It was a tough battle, her opponent was better at converting opportunities today,” head coach Alison Silverio said. “We will learn from this match and move forward. We will continue to consistently work hard and control what we can control. We have another tournament next weekend, which will be a great opportunity to get back out there and compete."
Long – a senior from Irving, Texas – led the team last year with a 13-9 overall singles record.
Next Up: The Ducks will be back in action next weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5 at the WSU Invitational in Pullman, Wash.
