Ducks Dominate in Doubles to Move on to Tomorrow's Round

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Oregon men's tennis team advanced on in all three doubles contests and three singles matches on the second day of the ITA Regional Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Junior Jayson Amos got things going in singles right away this morning. Taking on Cal's Ryan Shen, Amos edged out the first set in an 8-6 tiebreaker. He then blanked Shen in the second set 6-0 to move onto tomorrow.
Daan Maasland followed with a victory of his own. After receiving a first-round bye yesterday, Maasland took on Jesse Ross of UC Davis today. After falling 6-1 in the first set, Maasland bounced back to take the next two easily, 6-2, 6-0 and move on.
Simon Stevens then rounded out the singles victories. Facing Washington's Rish Rama, Stevens easily won the contest 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play, all three Duck duos won their contests to move on to tomorrow's rounds. Brent Chin/Bartosz Sawicki and Daan Maasland/Simon Stevens each took on a pair from Fresno State. Chin/Sawicki defeated Euan McIntosh/Jeremy Moser 8-5 while Maasland/Stevens won 8-1 over Youssef Hassan/Nikolas Papic. Rounding out the doubles was Jayson Amos/Armando Soemarno. They won 8-3 over Stanford's David Hsu/Sameer Kumar.
Tomorrow will feature two rounds of singles followed by one round of doubles tomorrow night.
