Ducks Sweep Title Matches at Easley Memorial
11/02/15 | Men's Tennis
LAS VEGAS – It was another dominating performance by the Oregon men's tennis team as the Ducks earned the titles in both flights of singles as well as doubles today at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The day started with the doubles final. Bartosz Sawicki/Cormac Clissold came into the tournament as the top seed and the duo proved that to be the case. Pitted against Oklahoma State's Nathan Roper/Jurence Mendoza, it was a tight match, but Sawicki/Clissold came away with the 8-6 win and took the doubles title.
The finals for both singles flights followed. In flight 2, the winner was going to be a Duck no matter what as Ethan Young-Smith faced off with Bartosz Sawicki. It was Young-Smith who won the match 6-0, 6-3 to earn the first title of his career.
Jayson Amos then faced Alexandr Cozbinov of UNLV in the flight 1 championship match. The junior had little trouble, winning 6-3, 6-0 to claim the title. It's the second straight year that Oregon has defeated a member of the UNLV team to take the crown.
