Travel Squad: Jelks Rejoins Ducks In Berkeley

Defensive end Jalen Jelks was on the travel squad for Friday's game at Cal after missing the previous four games.
BERKELEY, Calif. — Defensive end Jalen Jelks, who is second on the UO defense with two sacks despite not playing since early September, made his first road trip of the season when the Ducks travelled south for their game at California on Friday (7:30 p.m., ESPN).
Jelks had both of his sacks against Virginia, when the UO defense recorded a season-best six sacks as a team. He hasn't been in uniform since, but was with the travel party that left Eugene on Thursday. The defensive line was further bolstered by Gary Baker and Cody Carriger, making their first road trips of the season and helping account for the absence of sophomore Canton Kaumatule, who did not travel.
Three players who were not on the previous road trip to WSU but played a week later against Washington — Troy Dye, Drayton Carlberg and Johnny Mundt — also rejoined the travel squad this week.
Along with Kaumatule, the Ducks travelled to Cal without regulars Dwayne Stanford, Johnny Ragin III, Reggie Daniels and Jonah Moi. Stanford and Ragin suffered injuries at Washington State and were not in uniform against the Huskies.
In addition, linebacker Eric Briscoe Jr. did not travel to Cal after being on the sideline at WSU. That would seem to indicate the coaching staff is intent upon holding him back as a redshirt this season.
