Ducks Fourth After First Day of East Lake Cup

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oregon men's golf team shot a seven-over 295 on the first day of the East Lake Cup played at the East Lake Golf Club. Senior Wyndham Clark paced the Ducks with a 71 and is tied for sixth with Patrick Martin and Theo Humphrey of Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt is in first of the four-team field after firing a 282. Texas and Illinois are second and third with scores of 287(-1) and 288(E), respectively.

Play will resume tomorrow on the Golf Channel with semifinals team match play airing 3-6 p.m. ET (11-2 p.m. PT. The Golf Channel Pre-Game, aired from 2-3 p.m. ET (10-11 a.m. PT) will preview the semifinal matches.
The Ducks have a No. 4 seed and will be paired with No. 1 seed Vanderbilt during Tuesday's semifinals action. All golfer will begin at the first tee.

How it Happened: Clark fired a 1-under 71 for the best finish for the Ducks of the day. The Denver, Colo. native led the field with Scottie Scheffer of Texas in par 4 holes at -2 (3.80).
Senior Nigel Lett had the second best score for the Ducks, with a 2-over 74 and is in 11th place. Lett made 12 pars throughout the first round, the most for the team.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Gronlund and redshirt senior Sulman Raza both finished at 3-over (75) and are tied for 12th. Illini Bryan Baumgarten and Edoardo Lipparelli and Longhorn Steven Chervony are also at +3.
Gronlund had four birdies. Both Clark and Raza had six birdies on the day. As a team, Oregon had 21 birdies, matching Vanderbilt for the most.
To round of the Oregon lineup, sophomore Edwin Yi shot 77 (+5) and is tied for 17th with Dylan Meyer of Illinois and Taylor Funk of Texas.
