Four Ducks Head to Las Vegas for Easley Memorial Classic

EUGENE, Ore. – Four members of the Oregon men's tennis team will compete at the Easley Memorial this weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., continuing their fall season.
Juniors Simon Stevens and Akihiro Tanaka, sophomore Ethan Young-Smith and freshman Ty Gentry will travel to Vegas to compete in the three-day event. The tournament will consist of two singles flights and one doubles flight.
There will be no live results during the event. Results will be sent out at the end of each day. The first two rounds of singles will play played on Friday, as well as the first round of doubles.
Stevens leads the Ducks into Las Vegas after advancing to the doubles finals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships two weeks ago with senior Jayson Amos. Stevens, 4-3 in singles this fall, will take on Northern Arizona's Lucas Taylor at 10 a.m. Friday in the first round of singles flight 1, and will pair up with Tanaka in the doubles flight against Taylor and Felix Schumann in the first round at 9 a.m.
Tanaka, a junior transfer from Asia University and a native of Yokohama, Kangawa, will play in his first event as a Duck after missing the start of the fall with injury. Tanaka will play Courtney Lock (UNLV) in the first round in singles at 10 a.m. in addition to playing doubles with Stevens.
Young-Smith enters the weekend at 3-3 in singles this fall, and will compete in singles flight 2 starting with a first-round matchup with Peter Horvath (UNLV) at 11 a.m. Prior to his singles match, Young-Smith will play doubles with Ty Gentry at 9 a.m. against Alexandr Cozbinov and Ruben Alberts (UNLV).
Gentry, a highly-touted recruit, is 2-4 thus far in his collegiate career in singles play. The freshman wil take on Francois Musitelli (Grand Canyon) at 11 a.m. in singles flight 2 after his first doubles match.
