
Ducks Collect Road Win at LMU

LOS ANGELES – The 42nd-ranked Oregon men's tennis team earned a 5-2 road win Friday afternoon over Loyola Marymount at the LMU Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In doubles, Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent won their fourth straight match as they won 6-3 over Lukas Moenter and Luke Bohuslav. The Lions (0-3) then picked up a win at No. 2 as Errol Smith and Joat Farah won 6-3 over Daan Maasland and Simon Stevens. The Ducks (9-1) then clinched the point as 36th-ranked duo Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno downed Charles Boyce and Cristobal Rivera 6-3 at the top spot.
In singles, Oregon would collect three straight wins to seal the match. Laurent dropped Rivera 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 while Simon Stevens won in three sets over Smith. Stevens dropped the first one 7-6, but battled back to take set two in a tiebreak and then won 6-1 in the third. The Ducks collected their fourth point behind a three-set victory at No. 6 from Ethan Young-Smith. He won the first one 6-3, but then fell 6-3 to Farah in the second. The freshman from Bend, Ore. then rebounded to take the third 6-2.
UO then received its final point from a win by Jayson Amos at No. 4. He won 6-5, 6-1 over Moenter for his fifth straight win.
The Lions were able to pick up a win at No. 1 as Boyce won 6-4, 7-5 over Maasland and a hard-fought victory at No. 5. Cormac Clissold won the first set 6-4, but LMU's Buhuslav took set two in a tiebreak and then won 10-8 in the third set breaker.
