
Nogosek named to closer watch list

EUGENE, Ore. – Junior Stephen Nogosek has been named to the watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award the NCBWA announced today.
Nogosek (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS) finished last season with a 6-2 record and a 2.02 ERA in a school-record 39 appearances. The right-handed relief pitcher struck out 60 batters in 58.0 innings pitched, while holding opponents to a .196 batting average. Nogosek, who was named a preseason All-American by both the NCBWA and Perfect Game, has a 7-4 career record and a 2.21 ERA in 56 appearances.
Nogosek pitched for the U.S. National Team last summer and finished with a 1.69 ERA in six appearances. He struck out 11 and walked just one in 10.2 innings pitched, while holding opponents to a .200 batting average.
Nogosek and the rest of the Ducks begin their season on Friday when they open a three-game series at San Diego State. UO returns home for a seven-game homestand following the SDSU series, starting with a four-game set against Illinois State from Thursday through Sunday (Feb. 25-28).
