Oregon Wins 18th Straight Game, Sweeps Stanford

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon softball team won its 18th straight game, matching the program record, and swept Stanford with an 8-0 run-rule victory on Saturday at Jane Sanders Stadium.
The Ducks matched the previous school record for consecutive wins, which was set in 2007. Oregon improved to 26-4 (6-0 Pac-12) with the victory, their second shutout of the series. The Ducks outscored the Cardinal 21-2 in the series.
In addition to its overall win streak, Oregon has won 13 straight games against Stanford.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon took an early lead in the second inning when Lauren Lindvall drove in a pair with a two-out double to right. After a scoreless third, the Ducks scored two more runs in the fourth on an error and a sacrifice fly from Alyssa Gillespie.
Oregon made it a 6-0 lead in the fifth after Geri Ann Glasco hit a RBI double and a Sammie Puentes hit a RBI single up the middle. In the sixth inning, after Kora Costa hit her second double of the game to drive in a run, the Ducks walked off on another Stanford error to make it 8-0.
IN THE CIRCLE: Cheridan Hawkins picked up the win, her 10th of the season, after tossing five scoreless innings with two hits, two walks and eight strikeouts. In two starts against the Cardinal, Hawkins allowed only four hits in 12 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts.
BOX SCORE BLAST: Costa had two hits, both doubles, while Puentes also had a pair of hits to lead the Ducks.
LILLEY INJURY: Jenna Lilley was hit by a pitch in the face in the second inning and had to leave the game. She was taken to RiverBend Hospital in Springfield where she is being treated. As of Saturday evening, doctors do not think she will need surgery.
UP NEXT: The Ducks play host to UCLA next weekend for a three-game series starting Friday night. Pac-12 Networks will air the games on Friday and Sunday while ESPNU will carry Saturday night's game.
