SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Jake Bennett had two hits and drove in a pair of runs but it wasn't enough as Oregon lost 6-3 at Notre Dame in a nonconference game on Thursday night.

How it happened: Oregon (11-10) jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first. Bennett picked up the RBI hit driving in Austin Grebeck, who led off the inning with a single. Notre Dame (13-10) bounced back scoring two runs in the second and two runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. The Irish got the second-inning runs on four hits including pair of extra-base hits, while scoring the runs in the fourth inning on two-run single by Cavan Biggio after an infield hit, a walk and a sacrifice bunt. The Ducks rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth. Bennett picked up his second RBI with a double to right field, and two batters later Steven Packard drove in a run with a single to right to cut the lead to one. Notre Dame added insurance runs in the sixth and the eighth.

Box score notes: Ducks' starter Isaiah Carranza (1-1) gave up four runs on seven hits in three-plus innings and was charge with the loss … Kyle Kasser and Bennett continued their hot hitting since moving into the starting lineup … Kasser went 2-for-4 with a run scored and now has multiple hits in five of his seven starts, including five of the last six. Kasser is 12-for-27 with six runs scored in those starts … Bennett finished 2-for-5 and has hits in five of his six starts, including a pair of multiple-hit games.

On deck: The Ducks continue their four-game road trip on Friday when they visit Michigan State to open a three-game series. Cole Irvin (2-2, 2.66) will pitch for Oregon, while Michigan State sends Cam Vieaux (4-1, 1.46) to the mound.
