Ducks Hold on to Beat ASU, 5-4

TEMPE, Ariz. – Geri Ann Glasco belted a grand slam and the No. 5 ranked Ducks held on to beat No. 25 Arizona State, 5-4, on Saturday night to clinch the series win at Farrington Stadium.
The Ducks improved to 34-6 (12-2 Pac-12) with the win, their fifth straight over Arizona State, which is the program's longest ever winning streak against the Sun Devils.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Arizona State took the early lead for the second straight game with a run in the third inning. The Ducks had a chance to lead early as well, leaving the bases loaded in both the second and the fourth inning.
Oregon loaded the bases again in the fifth, and this time Geri Ann Glasco delivered with two-out grand slam to deep center. The Ducks added another run in the fifth on a RBI single from Hailey Decker.
Arizona State nearly rallied back, scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 5-3 game. The Sun Devils put their first two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, scoring once, but Megan Kleist got a groundout to first with a runner at second to end the game.
BOX SCORE BLAST: Glasco went 2-for-3 with a walk and her big grand slam in the fifth…Koral Costa drew a pair of walks while Jenna Lilley with 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch.
RECORDS WATCH: Janelle Lindvall has 177 RBIs in her career, just three away from matching Kailee Cuico's UO career record of 180.
A GRAND TIME: Cheridan Hawkins did not record a strikeout in her relief role on Saturday, leaving her at 997 career strikeouts. She is looking to be the first Pac-12 pitcher to reach 1,000 strikeouts since ASU's Dallas Escobedo did it in 2014.
UP NEXT: The Ducks meet ASU on Sunday at 1 PM on Pac-12 Networks for the final game of the three-game series.
