Ducks downed in East Lake Cup third place match

ATLANTA – Oregon fell behind early in four of its five matches and couldn't recover in a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma in the East Lake Cup third place match on Wednesday at East Lake Golf Club.
How it Happened: Freshman Thomas Mulligan secured the only point of the day for the Ducks with a 5&4 win over Grant Hirschman. Mulligan won four consecutive holes from No. 5 to No. 8 to build a comfortable lead heading into the back nine and was five holes up when the Sooners clinched the match.
Ryan Gronlund battled all day long in a 2&1 loss to Garett Reband, going four holes down twice during the match. He fought back with two consecutive wins on holes 14 and 15 to get just two holes down and pushed the match to the 17th hole.
Edwin Yi fell in his match, 3&2, to Riley Casey despite making four birdies on the day. Norman Xiong lost his match 6&5 to Blaine Hale and Donald Kay dropped his match to Brad Dalke, 5&4.
