
Ducks baseball schedule features 29 home games

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon released its 2018 baseball schedule today. The Ducks will play 55 games, including 29 at home, with 14 of them coming against teams that qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament.
Oregon begins the season with three games at the UNLV Tournament starting February 16 where the Ducks will open with Loyola Marymount. The Lions, who the Ducks visit for a three-game series the next weekend in Los Angeles, finished the 2016 season with a 38-18 record. The Ducks start their home season, and a 10-game homestand, February 27 with a single game with Seattle. Oregon will then host Florida Atlantic in a four-game series (March 2-5), UC Davis for four games (March 9-11) and Gonzaga (March 13).
UO begins the Pac-12 Conference season with a three-game series at Arizona State (March 16-18). The Ducks' first conference series at PK Park is against California on March 23-25. Oregon also hosts Pac-12 rivals Washington State (April 6-8), USC (April 27-29), Utah (May 11-13) and Arizona (May 24-26) in conference games. Oregon and Oregon State will meet twice (May 1, May 8) in non-league games at PK Park, while playing a three-game conference series in Corvallis (April 19-21). Oregon State and Arizona advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season, as did Stanford (March 29-31) and UCLA (May 18-20), both of whom Oregon will face on the road. The Ducks also have a Pac-12 road series at Washington (April 12-14).
After opening the season against LMU in the UNLV Tournament, the Ducks will wrap up their trip to Las Vegas with games against the host Rebels (Feb. 17) and Indiana State (Feb. 18). UO plays a pair of home-and-home series with teams from the West Coast Conference. Oregon visits Portland (Feb. 21) before heading to Southern California for its three-game series at Loyola Marymount. The Ducks will host the Pilots on April 10. UO entertains San Francisco on March 26, before visiting the Dons on April 2.
Four of Oregon's conference series' will be televised with the Pac-12 Network broadcasting the Washington, Oregon State, UCLA and Arizona games. The Oregon State non-league games at PK Park will also be televised.
Oregon returns 18 players from a team that finished 30-25, including four position players and three pitchers who started in 2016. Senior infielder Kyle Kasser returns after batting .352, a modern-era Oregon record, with 24 RBI and a .435 on-base percentage. The Ducks also return freshmen All-American infielders Gabe Matthews (.282, 3 HR, 26 RBI) and Spencer Steer (.262, 2 HR, 35 RBI).
On the mound, All-American closer Kenyon Yovan returns after recording 15 saves and a 1.97 ERA as a true freshman. Junior right-handed pitcher Matt Mercer and junior left-hander Cole Stringer are back from last year's weekend rotation.
