Oregon exploded for eight runs in the second inning and run-ruled Illinois, 11-0, to close out the Mary Nutter Classic.
The No. 9 ranked Ducks improved to 9-0 on the season with the win over the Illini.
HOW IT HAPPENED: After a scoreless first inning, Oregon exploded for eight runs on six hits in the second inning. Nikki Udria started the scoring with a solo homer, her second of the weekend. Lauren Lindvall followed with a three-run blast to center to make it a 4-0 lead for the Ducks. Oregon loaded the bases on two singles and a walk to set up Gwen Svekis, who was hit by a pitch to drive in a fifth run. Freshman Mia Camuso then roped a bases-clearing double down the first base line to make it 8-0, her second hit of the inning.
Oregon tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning. Danica Mercado, Svekis and Madi Bishop each doubled in the frame.
AT THE PLATE: Lauren Lindvall and Mia Camuso each drove in three runs for the Ducks while Lindvall and Udria both homered.

IN THE CIRCLE: Megan Kleist (3-0) tossed five shutouts inning with five hits, no walks and four strikeouts.
ON THE WEEKEND: Danica Mercado tallied six hits in three games at the Mary Nutter Classic while Lauren Lindvall went 5-for- with a homer and six RBIs. Nikki Udria homerd twice and went 5-for-10. Megan Kleist went 2-0 and allowed just one earned run in 12.1 innings at the Mary Nutter with nine strikeouts and two walks.
UP NEXT: The Ducks have a quick turnaround, heading to Hawaii on Tuesday for games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
