The 51st-ranked pair of Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno got the Ducks rolling with a 6-0 win at the top spot, and Simon Stevens and Akihiro Tanaka clinched the point with a 6-1 win at No. 3. Thomas Laurent and Cormac Clissold, the 33rd-ranked pair in the country, completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win.
In singles, Clissold gave the Ducks their second point of the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over the Bulldogs' Youssef Hassan at No. 5, and Amos extended the Oregon lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Zdenek Derkas at the No. 3 spot. Quotable: Head Coach Nils Schyllander
On opening the week with a win…
"Good win for our guys. It was important to get that doubles point with Fresno State coming in here; I think we made that mountain a little tougher to climb for them after that. Now we need to make sure we stretch well, hydrate will and take care of our bodies."
On reaching 200 career wins…
"Obviously I'm proud of it, and I'm really proud that all 200 have come at the University of Oregon. I've been blessed to work with a great coach in Coach Jonas (Piibor), and we've been able to recruit great student athletes. I've been able to work with so many great people here and I'm proud of this win and hopefully there are many more to come."
Cormac Clissold, Junior
On helping Schyllander reach 200 wins…
"We were trying to get it done for him today. That's a huge achievement and we're all just stoked to be a part of it."
Notable: Clissold and Laurent improved to 25-3 (.893) all-time when playing together and have the 10th-most wins in UO history … Amos notched his 83rd career singles win, moving him within one win of second place in UO history and seven off the all-time record … Amos and Soemarno notched their 22nd doubles win together, moving them into a tie for 15th on the UO list … Laurent won his ninth-straight singles match to improve to 34-8 (.810) in his career, 15-2 (.882) this season and 9-0 in his career at the No. 1 singles spot.
