Ducks Clean Up on Pac-12 Awards

Four Ducks were named first team all-Pac-12 as the Ducks took home a bevy of honors on Monday.
EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon softball team had four players named first team all-Pac-12 as the Ducks took home a bevy of honors on Monday.
Nikki Udria, Danica Mercado, Megan Kleist and Maggie Balint were all named first team all-conference while Alexis Mack was a second team choice and Mia Camuso and Gwen Svekis were third team selections. In eight seasons under head coach Mike White, the Ducks have had 41 all-Pac-12 selections. Â
Balint and Camuso plus Miranda Elish and Shannon Rhodes were named Pac-12 all-freshman. Udria added all-defensive team honors.Â
This season the Ducks (47-6) feature one of the top pitching staffs in the nation and all three arms were honored by the conference. Balint's 1.13 ERA ranks second in the Pac-12 while Kleist's 1.26 ERA is fourth in the league. Elish is sixth with a 1.61 ERA. Individually, all three ERAs rank in the top-50 nationally. As a group, the staff leads the Pac-12 with a 1.31 ERA, which ranks fifth in the NCAA.
Offensively, Mack's .415 batting average ranks second in the Pac-12 while Udria is just behind her in fourth at .400. Mack leads the league with 24 stolen bases with Mercado one back in second with 23 stolen bases.
Utah's Hannah Flippen and Arizona's Katiyana Mauga split player of the year honors while Arizona lefty Danielle O'Toole was named pitcher of the year. UCLA pitcher Rachel Garcia was named the league's freshman of the year while Flippen also took home defensive player of the year honors.Â
