Clark Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon men's golf senior Wyndham Clark was named April's Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Month as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Currently ranked as No. 1 in the nation by Golfstat, the Denver native began the month with a tie for 13th out of 125 at The Goodwin (77-68-69—214) and helped the Ducks to a team finish of fourth out of 24 (296-281-277—854). The following weekend, Oregon traveled to the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif., where out of 95 golfers, Clark tied for fifth (71-73-67—211) and the Ducks finished third (353-363-354—1070). To close out the month, the Ducks claimed their first outright conference title since 1959 at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships at the Boulder Country Club (354-361-350—1065). Clark earned the top medalist honors (69-68-69—206) and is Oregon's first Pac-12 medalist since Brent Murray in 1978.
Following their 2016 NCAA championship win, the Ducks have taken first five times this season and never finished below fifth all year. Clark has racked up three first and second-place finishes.
With so much success on the links this season, Clark has also been named a semifinalist for the prestigious Ben Hogan Award. Clark is in company with five of ten semifinalists hailing from the Pac-12: Jared du Toit (Arizona State), Collin Morikawa (California), Sean Crocker (USC), and Maverick McNealy (Stanford).
It was also announced Tuesday that Clark and freshman Norman Xiong are a semifinalists for the 2017 Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol. The finalists will be announced May 25, with the recipients being named June 1 during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.
The Ducks will learn the NCAA championship fate on Thursday, May 4 as the field will be announced on the Golf Channel at 9:00 a.m. Northern Illinois will host the 2017 NCAA Championships at the Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. from May 26-31. The 30 teams and six individuals will compete in 54 holes of stroke play. The Pac-12 has claimed 15 NCAA team titles, while 15 different Pac-12 golfers has claimed 18 medalist honors.
