Tobita Sweeps USTA Oregon State Championships

Senior Alyssa Tobita took home the women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles this Sunday at the USTA Oregon State Championships.
Oregon women's tennis senior Alyssa Tobita capped off a perfect weekend Sunday as the Mililani, Hawaii native won the triple crown at the USTA Oregon State Championships.

Tobita, one of UO's top returning players and a 2016-17 All-Pac-12 Second Team selection, grinded out tournament victories in the open women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles brackets.

In the women's singles bracket, Tobita raced to the championship match with back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 victories to open the tournament. She only dropped two sets on her way to the finals defeating No. 3 seed Michelle Lui 6-1, 6-1 in the semi-finals.

In the championship match Tobita squared off against her doubles tournament partner and No. 2 seed Zoe Scandalis. Tobita pulled out the three set victory 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 over Scandalis to win the tournament title.

In the women's doubles portion, Tobita and Scandalis joined forces to go 2-0 in round robin play and win the doubles trophy.

Tobita closed out the weekend sealing the tournament sweep in the mixed doubles bracket. She along with partner Kawika Lam took their No. 1 seed all the way to the championship match where the duo held off Simon Homedes and Erin Larner 6-4, 6-1.

Tobita is one of two seniors, along with Nia Rose, who will return to help lead the women's tennis team during the upcoming 2017-18 season.
