Sabally Named to Miller Award List
10/24/18 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. - A year after being named the Pac-12 freshman of the year, sophomore Satou Sabally has been named to the watch list for the Cheryl Miller Award, given annually to the nation's top small forward.
Sabally, a 6-foot-4 forward from Berlin, Germany, averaged 10.7 points per game last season while shooting 46.1 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from three and 78.7 percent at the line. She was the top scoring freshman in the Pac-12 last year. Sabally also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 24.1 minutes per game.
Sabally had her best game last year in one of the Ducks' biggest games. In an overtime win at home against No. 10 ranked UCLA, Sabally scored a season-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including a season-best 7-of-9 from three-point range. Sabally tallied 20+ points on five occassions last season, including 21 points in just 19 minutes against Colorado in the Pac-12 Tournament.
After making 29 starts in 38 games last year, Sabally is expected to see an increased role on the wing this season as the Ducks look to fill Lexi Bando's spot on the perimeter.
UConn's Gabby Williams won the inaugural Miller Award last season, which is presented by the WBCA and the Basketball Hall of Fame.
