10/29/18 | Women's Volleyball
EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman libero Brooke Nuneviller has been named the Pac-12 freshman of the week for the third time this season after leading the Oregon volleyball team to a 2-0 weekend in her home state of Arizona, the conference announced on Monday.
A Chandler, Ariz., native, Nuneviller racked up 45 total digs (6.43 d/s) over the weekend, highlighted by a match-high 27 digs in Sunday's win at Arizona for her fourth 20-plus dig match of the year. Nuneviller also added six assists and a career-high four aces against the Wildcats, two nights after totaling 18 digs in a road sweep of Arizona State.
"Brooke was fantastic," Head coach Matt Ulmer said after Sunday's win. "She was a big-time player today, and really this whole weekend…She was awesome. Her and Camryn Tastad, they make some crazy plays when they're back there together."
Nuneviller's stellar defensive weekend raised her season digs per set average from 4.62 to 4.80, which currently ranks third in the Pac-12. The Ducks' libero is the only freshman and one of just two underclassmen in the conference's top 10 for digs per set.
The Ducks now have six Pac-12 weekly awards this season, including Nuneviller's three freshman of the week honors. No. 16 Oregon is back home this weekend to host No. 15 USC (Friday, 8 p.m.) and No. 20 UCLA (Sunday, 12 p.m.) in Matthew Knight Arena.
