Ducks Earn Five Rankings in ITA Fall Polls

EUGENE, Ore. – After a productive fall season, the Oregon men's tennis team has collected five rankings in Wednesday's release of most updated national rankings. The Ducks have two ranked players including senior Thomas Laurent and three doubles team positioned inside the top 40.

Singles
No. 5 Thomas Laurent (7-2)
No. 99 Emmanuel Coste (10-3)
Doubles
No. 24 Joshua Charlton/Thomas Laurent (7-2)
No. 28 Emmanuel Coste/Ty Gentry (3-1)
No. 38 Armando Soemarno/Charles Roberts (7-1)
Laurent, who began the year at No. 8 in the preseason ranking, moved up three spots and will carry a top-5 ranking into the spring dual season. In his most recent outing, the Montpellier, France, native advanced to the semifinals of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships for a second-straight season.
Oregon has another top-100 player in sophomore Emmanuel Coste who checked in at No. 99 in the final fall rankings. Coste won the ITA Northwest Regional title, qualified for the national tournament and had a team-best 10 wins during the fall semester.
In doubles play, Laurent and Joshua Charlton won seven of nine matches during the fall. The new duo teamed up for the first time at the ITA Northwest Regional and came away with the doubles title. Coste is also ranked in doubles with Ty Gentry after the pair advanced to the quarterfinal round of the regional tournament in Seattle.
The Ducks final ranking comes from Armando Soemarno and Charles Roberts, the No. 38 team in the country. Oregon's top returning duo from last season, Soemarno and Roberts won two tournaments in the fall with victories at the UCSB Classic and Duck Invitational.
