Moving on to the Round of 16
11/08/18 | Men's Tennis
EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Thomas Laurent registered the 80th victory of his career Thursday morning in the second round of the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz. In the consolation draw, newcomer Emmanuel Coste responded from his first-round setback with a three-set win.
Both Ducks have advanced to the round of 16 in their respective draws while Laurent and Joshua Charlton move on to the quarterfinal of the consolation doubles bracket.
"It was a good day for the Ducks," head coach Nils Schyllander said. "Tom came storming out of the gates and played a very clean match on the national stage. I am very happy with how he has been serving and taking control of points.
"Manu played a gritty match against a quality Wake Forest opponent and what's most encouraging is that his game got better the deeper into the match he got. Another big day tomorrow where we have to be at our absolute best to have success."
