Game Notes: First of Two with Boise State
12/13/18 | Men's Basketball
Oregon faces Boise State, the team that ended the Ducks' 46-game home court winning streak a year ago, Saturday at 6 p.m. (Pac-12 Network) in the first of a rare same season home-and-home with the Broncos.
THE STARTING 5
• 1 – Bolstered by a season-high 11 steals, Oregon used a strong defensive effort to rally from a nine-point deficit and defeat San Diego 65-55 on Wednesday. Ehab Amin led the Ducks with four steals, while Will Richardson added three; both were season highs. Bol Bol contributed four blocks to the defensive effort, while the Ducks out-rebounded the Toreros, 35-31.
• 2 – Oregon continues to lead the Pac-12 and rank fifth nationally in field goal percentage defense at 36.0 percent. Only three opponents, Omaha, Texas Southern and San Diego, have shot better than 40 percent against the Ducks this season.
• 3 – Bol Bol, the only player ranked among the Pac-12's top 5 in scoring, rebounds, blocks and 3FG percentage, has scored in double figures in each of his first nine games as a Duck, and has recorded a double-double in four of those games. Nov. 26 against Texas Southern, Bol scored 32 points with 11 rebounds. The 32 points were the most by an Oregon freshman since Tajuan Porter dropped in 33 against UNLV in a 2007 NCAA Sweet 16 game.
• 4 – Freshman Will Richardson recently set a season high in scoring in four straight games. He had seven points against Syracuse, 10 against Green Bay, 13 versus Texas Southern and 16 at Houston.
• 5 – Oregon's +23 rebound margin versus Omaha last Saturday was its largest since being +26 against Alabama State on Nov. 17, 2016. Bol Bol had 10 boards, while Abu Kigab (7) and Victor Bailey Jr. (6) both had career highs.
