Week-Long Run Ends with Finals Appearance

EUGENE, Ore. – Playing a two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, Ducks senior Thomas Laurent held his own against world No. 51 Sam Querrey before falling in Saturday's final of the California Championships. Laurent won five matches during the week including a pair of wins over an ATP top-200 player.
"Tom had an amazing week in California and showed he belonged with the big boys," UO head coach Nils Schyllander said. "It's not only the way the wins throughout the week but how he won. This should give him a lot of confidence going into the season and beyond. Hard work and focus sure pays off."
Laurent and the Ducks begin their spring dual season Jan. 20 with a home doubleheader. On the heels of an impressive fall season, Laurent earned a No. 5 ITA ranking in singles play along with a No. 24 doubles ranking with UO teammate Joshua Charlton.
