CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The No. 5 ranked Oregon softball team defeated San Jose State, 1-0, in six innings in a two-hour time limited game.
The Ducks (12-3) went 3-2 this weekend in the desert with wins over No. 18 Oklahoma State, No. 7 LSU and San Jose State.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Shaye Bowden singled to left to drive home Gwen Svekis.
After that single run, neither team could manage much offensively until the top of the seventh, when the Ducks exploded for six runs.
However, the two teams, due to tight travel schedules, agreed to a two-hour max time limit for the game. The two-hour limit hit with one out in the bottom of the seventh and the Ducks leading, 7-0.
The agreed upon time limit decision wipes away the seventh inning since both teams did not get a chance to play the full frame. It will go in the books as a 1-0 win in six innings for the Ducks.

Kleist earned the win to improve to 4-2 on the season while Elish picked up her first save of th year. Kleist allowed three hits over 5.1 inning with one walk and four strikeouts.
AT THE PLATE: Oregon tallied four hits against the Spartans. In addition to Bowden's RBI single, Jenna Lilley, Svekis and Mary Iakopo also had hits for the Ducks.
