Softball Kicks Off Community Service Projects with Socktoberfest
10/08/26 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – Over the last three fall seasons, the Oregon softball team has collected nearly 5,000 pairs of socks to donate to charity.
Â
The annual Socktoberfest sock drive will once again lead off the team's fall community service projects. The Ducks are asking fans to bring new socks to the fall-opener against Clackamas Community College Sunday at 12 p.m. at Jane Sanders Stadium. Admission is free.
Â
As in previous years, the Ducks are partnering with Looking Glass Community Services for the sock drive. New socks of any size are accepted from infant to youth to adult.
Â
The other community service drives this fall include:
For the toy drive on Oct. 14, the team will be collecting new and unwrapped toys for children in the community.
Â
One of the highlights of the fall is a collaboration with former Duck and Gold Glove winner Paige Sinicki for the breast cancer awareness game on Oct. 18. Sinicki, who plays for the AUSL's Portland Cascade, is a breast cancer survivor and will be promoting her foundation, ONE4ONE. Merchandise from the ONE4ONE Foundation will be available at the game.
Â
The Oct. 24 doubleheader will serve as a drive to collect items for animals and their owners. Fans can donate food, treats, pet cleaning supplies, blankets, towels, leashes, collars, harnesses and toys.
Â
The final service project is the canned food drive on Oct. 25. Fans can bring nonperishable, unopened canned or dry food items to help fight hunger in the Eugene-Springfield community.
