Gronlund Paces Ducks on Day Two in Bandon

BANDON, Ore. – Oregon went 1-under par in round two of the Bandon Dunes Championship Monday to get to 1 over for the tournament and seventh place. Ryan Gronlund led the way for the Ducks with a 4-under par 67, one shot off his career-low.
How it Happened: Gronlund turned in a steady opening nine, making seven pars while making a birdie and a bogey. He got hot on the back nine, recording five birdies and a bogey to shoot a 4-under 31 on the inward nine to get to 1 over for the tournament.
Thomas Mulligan had a roller coaster of a front nine, making just one par to go along with five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey to go out in 1 under. The freshman had a more consistent back nine, shooting even par to finish with a season-low round of 1-under 70.
Playing as an individual, Kevin Geniza also turned in a season-best round, firing a 1-under 70. He was 2 under through six holes but dropped back to even with a double bogey on hole seven. Geniza birdied the par-5 12th and 15th hole but bogeyed hole 17 to shoot 1 under on the back nine.
Edwin Yi shot a 1-over par 72 to drop to 3 over for the tournament and Donald Kay finished with a 3-over 74 to move to 4 over for the week.
Norman Xiong shot an uncharacteristic 4-over 75 to drop to 1 over through two rounds and Marcel Boet turned in a 3-over 74 competing as an individual.
Arizona State holds a five-shot lead at 17-under par heading into the final round after going 6 under in round two. Utah is in second at 12 under followed by Clemson at 9 under and Washington State and Santa Clara, both at 8 under.
