04/01/18 | Women's Lacrosse
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Oregon women's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the first half at East Carolina to cruise to a 14-3 win over the Pirates Sunday morning.
The Ducks' offense has been firing on all cylinders over the past two games recording 20 goals between the second half at Vanderbilt and the first half against ECU.
How it Happened: Senior Jill Zubillaga got the Ducks (6-5, 2-3) rolling early getting on the end of a pass from Cambi Cukar to net the opening goal.
That sparked a 6-0 run for Oregon throughout the opening 15 minutes, in which five Ducks found the back of the net.
After two goals in 10 seconds from Natalie Modly and Cukar, the Pirates finally got on the board as ECU's Mackell Schultes scored to make it 6-1 with 10 minutes left in the half.
The Ducks kept their foot on the gas with Cukar scoring her second goal of the game to spark yet another run for the Ducks.
Freshman Lilian Stump netted two of Oregon's four goals to close out the half, but the Pirates pulled one back just before halftime as the Ducks maintained a 10-2 lead at the intermission.
After Mariah Gatti opened the second half with a goal less than a minute in, the Ducks and Pirates traded goals before Zubillaga scored to put UO up 10, 13-3, at the 21:38 mark.
The goal marked Zubillaga's third straight hat trick while securing a running clock for the remainder of the game.
Jen Lanuza scored the only goal in the final 20 minutes marking the sophomore's first career goal at Oregon.
Who Stood Out: Senior captain Modly recorded her third career hat trick finishing with three goals … Cukar finished the game with six points, recording two goals and four assists … Stump recorded a career single-game high two goals against the Pirates … Goalkeeper Brittany Read finished with nine saves in her 45 minutes of action in the net.
