Ducks Move Up Three Spots Entering Final Round

Alexis Phadungmartvorakul shot a 2-under 70 and the Ducks improved by nine strokes from the first round to move up three spots in the team standings after two rounds at the Silverado Showdown
NAPA, Calif. – The Oregon women's golf team moved up three spots on the team leaderboard after shooting a 6-over 294 on Monday in the second round of the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Country Club North Course.
The Ducks improved by nine strokes from Sunday's opening round, and moved up three places into a tie for 10th in the 17-team field. No. 4 ranked Stanford is the overall leader at 1 under after 36 holes.
How it Happened: Alexis Phadungmartvorakul enjoyed a solid second round to lead the Ducks, firing a 2-under 70 with four birdies, including three in a row on holes three through five. The freshman from Taft, Calif., moved up 21 spots on the individual leaderboard with her strong showing and is currently tied for 11th overall at 1 over. Stanford's Mika Liu and USC's Jennifer Chang are tied for the individual lead at 6 under.
The Ducks received a pair of 2-over 74 performances from their two juniors, Petra Salko and Kathleen Scavo. Scavo matched Phadungmartvorakul with four birdies, and both she and Salko were even over their final nine holes. Salko is currently tied for 24th at 4 over, while Scavo sits at 7 over.
Sophomore Amy Matsuoka rounded out Oregon's counting scores with a 4-over 76 on Monday, and she is 9 over for the tournament. Freshman Madi Daniel finished 9 over for the second straight round.
What it Means: The Ducks did a nice job of cutting down extra strokes in the second round, recording just 19 bogeys as a team after finishing with 31 on Sunday, and will look to make similar improvements to climb further up the leaderboard on Tuesday. Oregon is ahead of four top-50 teams going into the final round, and is within 10 strokes of four top-25 teams.
