INDONESIA – After advancing through the qualifier to get into the main draw, Oregon women's tennis junior-to-be Rifanty Kahfiani captured her first pro title at the ITF Indonesia 15K on Friday. Kahfiani teamed with Ayaka Okuno to take the doubles title in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
A native of Bandung, Indonesia, Kahfiani opened the weeklong tournament last Saturday when she won her singles match in the qualifier. Over the seven days at the ITF Indonesia 15K, she put together a 5-0 record in doubles and 3-1 record in the singles qualifier and main draw. In fact, Kahfiani won at least one singles or doubles match in six of the last seven days.
Kahfiani's run in the singles draw started with Saturday's qualifying win and she carried that momentum over into the first and second rounds of the main draw. Over her first two matches in the main draw, she surrendered just nine games. Kahfiani's run in singles ended Wednesday in the quarterfinals when she fell to Zhima Du of China, who will play for the title on Saturday.
Making her run to a doubles title even more impressive, Kahfiani bounced back from her quarterfinals loss in singles player by winning her semifinals doubles match right after the loss.
Kahfiani finished her sophomore year at Oregon in 2017-18 with a 10-5 overall record in singles play and 18-10 mark in doubles action.
