Ducks in Seventh After Round One of Maui Jim Intercollegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Oregon opened the fall season by shooting 5 under, sitting in a tie for sevneth after the opening round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Club Friday.
Edwin Yi led the way with a 4-under 66 and is tied for 12th while Sam Foust fired a career-low 2-under 68 and is tied for 15th.
How it Happened: Yi began with a birdie on hole 10 followed by a bogey at 11, then birdied holes 13 and 15 to shoot 2 under on his first nine. He closed with another 2-under 33 on his second nine, making three birdies and a bogey.
Foust shot a bogey free 3-under 32 on the back nine to start his day before stumbling with bogeys at holes two and five. He birdied back-to-back holes at six and seven to finish even on his closing nine.
Ryan Gronlund turned in a 2-over 37 on the back nine but bounced back by shooting 2 under on the front nine to finish even. Donald Kay and Craig Ronne both finished with a 2-over 72 and Thomas Mulligan shot a 4-over 74 as an individual.
LSU holds the first-round lead at 17 under while Luis Gagne of LSU shot 8 under to take a one-shot individual lead.
